Storm Softball is striving to improve long-term player development within the association.  Therefore, we are strongly encouraging all athletes (U12, U14 and U16) to attend evaluations for the 2021 season.  Through these evaluations we can determine the level with which our athletes are performing and determine the progression of athletes from year to year.

Hitting - All athletes will cycle through various hitting stations:

(1) tee work  - multiple stations with different swing mechanics,  (2) Front toss and  (3) live pitch (pitching machine)

Each athlete will be evaluated though out each station and will have multiple attempts at each station. Each athlete should remember that evaluators are watching for attitude and effort as well as skill.

Timed Run - Each athlete will be timed in a run from; Home - 1st

Fielding - Each athlete will take part in multiple fielding drills where they will be timed from receiving a ground ball at the short stop position to making a throw to first base (that time will be scored accordingly), the throw itself will also be evaluated based on accuracy.  Athletes will also be scored on their general fielding technique, set up to the ball and throwing technique.

Pitcher/ Catcher - Pitchers will be evaluated on their control, mechanics and velocity.  Catchers will be evaluated on their blocking, framing, set up to the ball and a timed throw from home - 2nd.

If you requested to be evaluated as a Pitcher or Catcher or both a (P) or (C) will appear next to your name.

‘A’ TEAM SELECTION

Based on the evaluation scores from the Hitting and Fielding portion provided by the trained evaluators at RBI each athlete will be ranked.  The athletes that are ranked 1-10 will be placed on the ‘A’ team.  The final 2-3 athletes (depending on registration numbers) will be chosen at the coaches discretion and through the guidance of the division coordinator.
