Coach Selection Process

All information required to affiliate each coach with Softball Saskatchewan will be collected and stored through RAMP Interactive Registration:

Login and select Coach/Staff Registration.  Under choose a family member it must be the name of the person applying to coach.  Complete the form with all the information that can be found below.

Selection Process

Section (A)

1) Full name and mailing address

2) Date of birth

3) Respect in Sport number

4) Copy of current Criminal record check within the last 2 years)

5) NCCP number

6) Age division

               -U7 (2019, 2018, 2017)

               -U9 (2015, 2016)

               -U11 (2013, 2014)

               -U13 (2011, 2012)

               -U15 (2009, 20010)

               -U17 (2007, 2008)

               -Adult (2006 or earlier)

7) Position applying for:

-Head Coach

-Assistant Coach

-Manager

8) Courses and certification (please check all boxes that apply)

-Making Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation

-Community Softball Coach

- Foundations of Coaching Softball Part - 1 (FOCS -1) (60-90 minutes)

- Foundations of Coaching Softball Part - 2 (FOCS-2) (60-90 minutes)

-Competition Introduction Module #1 (3 hours)

-Competition Introduction Module #2 (3 hours)

-Competition Introduction Module #3 (3 hours)

-Competition Introduction In-person (2-day course)

-Coach Portfolio

-On field Evaluation

9) Past coaching experience (if any) ie. Provincial Championships, Westerns, Canadians

This is the basic information we require for all our coaches.

Each coach would be asked to check and acknowledge the following statement:

In the event there are multiple coaches applying for the same coaching position the following additional information maybe requested and considered.

Section (B)

• Past coaching experience
• A summary of past coaching feedback received and how each coach plans to apply past feedback moving forward. If new to coaching, a description of how they feel their coaching style and approach will be received by prospective players and your team parents.
• Coaching Philosophy
• Season Plan
• Any additional coaching experience outside Storm Softball
• References from 3 past families they have coached

Selection process will follow:

Potential coaching applicants will be first reviewed by the division coordinator.

If all information collected in section (A) is complete and there are not multiple coaches applying for the same coaching position, the division director and coaching development coordinator would together with the coach, review past coaching feedback surveys for the purpose of providing support to that coach on improving on their upcoming season. -Coach is accepted

If all information collected in section (A) is complete and there are multiple coaches applying for the same coaching position information from section (B) will be requested from the potential applicants.

To complete a fair and nonbiased evaluation those applications along with information outlined in Section (B) will be reviewed and voted upon by the following individuals- Selection Committee- 3 board members who are not associated with the division in question (does not have a child in that division). The selection committee will have the opportunity to request previous coaching feedback surveys to aid in the process. The selection committee may reach out to each coach for an interview if required.
